Laurie Monk has been a guitar fan since the early 1970's. Gilmour, Page, Blackmore and Beck.
Later in 1970's seeing players like Gary Moore and Alex Lifeson just fueled the fire.
In 1985 Laurie quit the guitar before he started after seeing Yngwie Malmsteen live in 1985 for his
first date in London. Laurie has travelled all over the UK and europe to see guitar players like
Allan Holdsworth, Shawn Lane, Frank Gambale, Tony Macalpine. He set up a guitar fanzine called "Shred Power"
and became friends with Liquid Note CEO Matt Williams who was working on another fanzine called GForce.
In the early 2000's Laurie decided to set up a guitar blog to feature undiscovered guitar players from around
the world, using videos to promote their playing. Originall Laurie thought there would be no more than 40 players!
However the result is Truth In Shredding, a little temple dedicated to the art of guitar, with over 15,000 posts
and over 1200 guitarists featured!
